<description>body { background-color:#eeddee; } .project_footer {display:none;} .project_bottom { display:none; }Just so you know this site is still in the early stages of conception.1979Might arguably be the coolest year, maybe because I was born, but also due to the fact that the digits that make up 1979 have a very beautiful aesthetic feel, the International Year of the Child was created, Sweden outlaws corporal punishment within the home, the pope visits a communist country, the world premier of Star Trek: The Motion Picture is premiered at the Smithsonian Institute, and did I mention I was born? Little detail... by the way Ozzy Osborne's career reaches the ultimate high as he is crowned "The Prince of Darkness" although we have yet to see the end times, plus we must not forget all the amazing music that was released this glorious year, such as London Calling by The Clash, The Wall by Pink Floyed, Highway to Hell by ACDC, Unknown Pleasure by Joy Division, Fear of Music by Talking Heads, Eat the Beat by Blondie, and well we should probably stop there since I just discovered that Winter Songs by the Art Bears was released in 1979 too... not sure about this one.. but badminton and racquet ball was still a cool, that is Joe Cool, yup just dated myself there or revealed how much of a geek I was, especially since I thought people with headbands rocked.

Next came several years of tormenting my parents, playing alone in the woods with fictitious creatures, hiding in the lofts of the churches, running around and producing sound effects that might resemble those made by Transformers, collecting badges of the places we visited, and well.... which I realize at this point I may be putting too much thought into my bio, especially since there seems to be rules on how you present yourself, but then I always thought that rules are more of guidelines anyways, which sounds cheesy since I believe this quote is from some terrible movie, but that is not the point of who I am, but this all eventually lead to a self-determined, ambitious, self-educated, designer/artist who finds life to be full of interesting meditations.

Leaving myself in a state of eternal shift. A place where I can enjoy seeking new opportunities, finding peace, and enjoying the work that I create everyday, must be the wine, since I also often ask myself "what the hell I'm doing?" as I bang my head against the refridgerator crying and hoping that I can come up with another idea, which usually leads to this moment of bliss until the client decides they would like some revisions, which then reminds me of the story If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, but I will not go into that right now, meaning I cannot figure out the best way to distill the book into a digestible quote without giving the plot away, which would keep you from reading the book for yourself, and most Designers do not read, and trust me it's a very simple book, so this is who I am, a ramblin' man who loves design and has a wonderful wife and a beautiful child.Terminal Identity Hang-outsWhere you can find my digital identity: blip.fmlast.fm

Design is about investing value in a relationship.

Design has given me the opportunity to help others with their passion. It's a chance to build relationships and create something from those relationships. It allows both parties to be inspired, inspire new thinking and see passion grow. An investment of value in something we both love.

The projects at the office are often created out of conversations with the client. Any pre-existing ideas are then placed on paper to make room for a new thinking. I would claim that I try to approach each client as if I know "nothing", but in theory this is impossible. But it does allow for one to begin asking questions. Often the ones you expect. Giving us the opportunity to explore new thinking and invest in something that communicates the idea in an unexpected way.

		<description>body { background-color:#eeffee; } .project_footer {display:none;} .project_bottom { display:none; }The moment.
For ten years I have been working in the field of Branding and Advertising. Creating visuals for individuals, small businesses and corporations. After 10 years what is left is a body of work that acts as a historical record of my growth as a designer and a space of reflection.

What design offers my clients and I is a chance to create something together. An investment of value in something we both love. I choose to work with those who have a passion in what they do everyday for there is a reward in inspiring each other to create something that is an expression of what you believe in.

This is also about questions. A constant why? Why do we need one more product? Why do we need to influence a shift? I'm curious about the trajectory of design, branding and advertising. There is a lot of excitement in new trends towards social media, planned mobs, and experimental ways to interact with the emotions of the everyday individual.

It is critical to ask these questions for visuals are becoming a the dominate form of communication today. We as designers are not creating value or culture. Culture is formed around communities and individuals. But, why are we quick to dissect these cultures? Is it really to fill a need or to gain access to a market? Does this shift the way people communicate? Does this shift the relationships of the individuals? Does this strip the value of our personal relationships to a form of consumption? Do we then consume our relationships?

My hope is this site will be an ongoing exploration of complex patterns to answer these questions and more.

This is a collection of beliefs, thoughts and motivation that are in a constant state of growing.

BE AUTHENTIC Authenticity is real and the play of cool is and will always be an act. Which eventually reveals itself as useless.
EXPLORE THE IDEAS YOU HATE Often the work that is annoying can reveal beauty.
TRASH IS OFTEN GOLD Never throw ideas away. They often have there time and place. Allow it time and space to reveal itself.
ENJOY THE MISTAKE We grow from our mistakes. They often open many more doors for excelling.
AVOID CHASING THE TREND It only reveals how far behind you really are. By the time you have discovered the trend, the people have moved on.
AVOID ANNUALS FOR INSPIRATION Undermines confidence and contributes to a lack of thinking. It's easy to replicate.
ASK QUESTIONS It's better then knowing everything. You will be surprised by what you learn.
LISTEN, AND LISTEN CAREFULLY You learn more about a person by listening and reflecting. It also allows one to remove any pre-existing beliefs about someone.
DIG Research, dig, find anything about what you are working on. You never know what will be revealed as unique.
NEVER STOP LEARNING Take the time to broaden your knowledge.
WHAT IS RELEVANT? The things we often find irrelevant will actually be relevant in the near future.
SHARE Share and welcome sharing.
